WHAT'S WITH THE NAME & THE STAG?

About: FAQ

THE NAME

The name itself has a double meaning. One definition for the word soul is a person's total self. Wise means characterized by wisdom : marked by deep understanding, keen discernment, and a capacity for sound judgment. As a person engages in therapy at SoulWise, s/he embarks on the incredible journey of getting to know oneself, what we call self-awareness. That individual will come to discover who s/he is and in the process learn how to live life to the fullest by applying the knowledge of self to everyday living: relationships, emotions, work, finances, eating and so on. The goal of a SoulWise life is to be balanced holistically.

The other meaning behind the name refers to the type of therapies SoulWise utilizes. Here at SoulWise, we use Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP) & BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT) when treating mental health challenges. These three therapies are some of the most advanced therapies for improving mental health. Each one is more efficient than traditional talk therapy and ultimately helps individuals get back on their feet more quickly than if they were seeing a therapist without such training.

THE STAG

So you're probably wondering what the meaning of the stag is in the SoulWise Therapy logo?

The stag was intentionally chosen to represent the journey many of my clients are on to improve themselves through therapy. A stag symbolizes stamina, grace, maturity, experience, instincts, regeneration, nobility, leadership and spiritual enlightenment.

Its stamina represents a desire to increase passion, strength and vitality holistically.

Its grace refers to its strong, yet silent demeanor. A normally peaceful spirit, the stag stands its ground when confronted yet swiftly retreats when its discernment senses danger.

Its maturity and experience are displayed through antlers that represent a mature tree. The stag makes mistakes, owns up to them, faces fears, and takes risks.

Its instincts are used to inform decision making in a non-rash, overly emotional way. Although experienced and wise, the stag remains sensitive, thus honing its ability to make the best decisions.

Its regeneration refers to the continual shedding and re-growing of antlers, proving that loss is essential to rewarding gains in the future. No matter how broken one feels, there is power within to heal, evolve and transform.

Its nobility is seen in its crown and its leadership is by example. The stag is the first to battle when protecting its herd.

Lastly, its spiritual enlightenment can be also be found in its antlers. Reaching toward the sky, its antlers represent ascending to an elevated level of consciousness. The stag reminds us that we are spiritual beings on a continual journey of learning and evolving.
